EchoPaper has no server and no account. We do not collect, store, or receive your recordings, your text, or any personal data. The app contains no analytics and no advertising.
Speech to text uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Your audio is processed on your iPhone and is not sent to us or to Apple for transcription. The first time you record in a language, iOS can download the speech model for that language from Apple.
Fold, summaries, organized versions, the daily digest, and questions about your slips use Apple Intelligence. EchoPaper first uses Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Apple processes the request on Apple silicon servers, uses your data only to answer the request, does not store it, and does not make it accessible to Apple or to us. If Private Cloud Compute is not available, or if you turn it off in Settings › Intelligence, the model on your iPhone does the work and nothing leaves the device. You can also turn off all AI features in Settings.
Translation uses Apple's Translation framework on your iPhone. The translated text is not sent to us.
Your slips and audio are stored on your iPhone and, when iCloud is on, in your private iCloud container. Only you can access this data with your Apple Account. We cannot read it.
EchoPaper asks for the microphone (to record) and speech recognition (to make text). It asks for Reminders only when you seal a task, to add that task to Reminders and to mark it as done. You can change these permissions at any time in the Settings app.
When you choose Share, Export PDF, or Open in iMarkdown, EchoPaper gives the text to the app or service that you choose. That app's own privacy policy then applies.
Optional tips are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
