Linguist is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data, text, or translations. The application operates entirely offline on your device.
All translation processing occurs locally on your Mac using Apple's MLX framework and the TranslateGemma model. Your source text and translations never leave your device and are never transmitted to any server.
Unlike cloud-based translation services, Linguist requires no internet connection to function. There are no external API calls, no cloud inference, and no data synchronization with remote servers.
Linguist does not require any account creation, sign-up, or login. There is no user authentication system and therefore no personal information is ever collected or stored.
Translation history is stored locally on your device using SwiftData. This data remains entirely on your Mac and is never shared or synchronized with any external service. You can delete this history at any time from within the application.
The TranslateGemma model files are downloaded once from official sources (HuggingFace/Kaggle) and stored locally on your device. After the initial download, no further network communication is required.
Linguist does not include any analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking mechanisms. We have no way to know how you use the application or what you translate.
