1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Linguist ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Linguist is an offline translation application that provides:

• Multi-language translation using on-device AI
• 100% local processing with no cloud dependency
• Translation history stored locally on your device
• Support for multiple language pairs

All processing is performed locally on your device using Apple's MLX framework and the TranslateGemma model.

3. System Requirements

Linguist requires:

• macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
• Apple Silicon processor (M1, M2, M3, or M4)
• Minimum 8GB RAM (16GB recommended)
• Sufficient storage space for model files

4. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Ensuring your device meets the system requirements
• Maintaining adequate storage space for the application and model files
• Using the application in compliance with all applicable laws
• Understanding that translation output may not be 100% accurate

5. Privacy and Data

• All translations are processed locally on your device
• No data is transmitted to external servers
• No account creation or personal information is required

6. Intellectual Property

• The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Linguist
• The TranslateGemma model is provided under Google's license terms
• You retain ownership of all content you create or translate using the App

7. Translation Accuracy

While Linguist strives to provide high-quality translations, machine translation is not perfect. The App is not intended to replace professional human translation services for critical documents, legal texts, or medical information.

8. Limitations of Liability

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. IN NO EVENT SHALL LINGUIST BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FROM TRANSLATION INACCURACIES.

9. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue the App at any time
• Update these Terms of Service
• Change features or functionality
• Update the underlying translation model

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

10. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice, for any breach of these Terms.
